what is beauty?
a golden hued sunset is enough to arrest you momentarily even on your busiest day. a meticulously arranged bouquet of blooms set on a counter top can turn a house into a home. symmetry, complimentary colour palettes, a serving of spicy ghanaian jollof with fried plantain or a beaming bride on her wedding day...we've all experienced moments that invite us to wonder and reflect on that transcendent feeling that flows from beauty.
in these moments, we should accept the invitation and take a deep dive into understanding. beauty is all encompassing.
it is logical as it is emotional,
psychological as it is spiritual,
philosophical as it is theological.
it's around us and within us.
beauty is in the joy, the heartfelt belly laugh and a loved one's hug.
she’s in the mundane everyday moments like the smell of an old library or the gentle buzz of bees in a garden..
beauty is also in the grief, the raw moments when life tries to break us.
fashion runways unpack it; intricate beading by the petite mains juxtaposed with effortless draping from a master draper.
wordsmiths try to capture it; david's psalms and angelou's prose
nature sings; the incessant roar of a tempest and gentle crackling of a campfire.
beauty is beckoning to us and our response as we navigate this side of eternity, should be yes. “beauty will save the world…” writes dostoevsky and i think of how we turn to art to channel or understand the emotional rollercoaster of the human experience (cue that heartbreak playlist or go-to celebratory dance).
this platform exists to invite you on a journey of discovery & contemplation so i am glad you're here.
come along, come along. there's a path that lies before us.
open your eyes to see and your heart to receive.
let us behold beauty together.
